Dr Nick Williams is part of the Productivity Insights Network, an interdisciplinary network recently funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. The network aims to understand factors affecting UK productivity, one of the most pressing challenges facing the UK. Understanding the productivity puzzle is central to UK economic performance.

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded Productivity Insights Network, which launched earlier this year, aims to improve our understanding of the factors affecting UK productivity. Led by Professors Philip McCann and Tim Vorley, the Productivity Insights Network is an ambitious initiative, co-producing new research-based insights with public, private and third sector partners.

Professor Gary Dymski , a Co-Investigator on the project, said:

This ESRC initiative will be taking on the challenge of understanding the roots of our productivity crisis, and considering how to build an inclusive, regionally-balanced UK  economy fit for the future. I look forward to working closely with principal-investigators Phil McCann and Tim Vorley, and I am especially pleased that Leeds' own Dr Nick Williams of our Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Studies will play a key role in this effort.

Professor McCann, Director of the Productivity Insights Network, explained that, over the next three years, the Productivity Insights Network will provide a unique opportunity to make more sense of the UK productivity puzzle by advancing new interdisciplinary insights as well as how the puzzle can be addressed.
