Do you want to be part of a dynamic project developing a ‘Start Up’ business run by students offering you the chance to develop a wide range of business skills that will enhance your employability and career prospects. Be part of the management team of this exciting new venture.

The Project: A ‘Not for Profit’ Buy and Sell Site exclusively for University of Leeds students, staff and alumni – the emphasis is on facilitating online enterprise through creating an accessible marketplace, rather than commercial profit. The project has received funding through the University’s Footsteps Fund now a team of people is needed to make it a success.

The roles available are (further info for each role can be found below): DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 14TH NOVEMBER 2016

Assistant Project Manager – This involves assisting the Enterprise Officer and the President managing the project making sure deadlines are met and taking minutes in meetings.
Treasurer – You will manage the scholarship funds gained from the Footsteps Fund. This involves budgeting for: events, the building of the website and any other funds that might be gained from donors.
Public Relations – You will be in charge of marketing the website, speaking to possible donors, creating a social media strategy, and implementing that.
Events Management – Organise and run the opening event. This will involve booking the venue, organising the entertainment, working with PR to ensure the marketing has the correct information, all while working within the budget assigned by the treasurer.
Society Liaison – Supporting the Enterprise Officer in liaising with LUU and other societies to build an accessible network of buyers and sellers.
Web Design – You will be in charge of creating an effective and attractive website (a budget is available) acting as the point of contact between the business team and the external web designers.

ROLE SPECIFICATION AND OUTLINES

Assistant Project Manager
· This involves assisting the Enterprise Officer and the President managing the project making sure deadlines are met and taking minutes in meetings

· Skills required: good organisation, good verbal and written communication, time management, people management, keeping to deadlines, self-motivation, decision-making, ability to working under pressure, knowledge of business, problem-solving, ability to work without supervision

· Desired experience: having worked in a society or professional environment as a team, leadership, public speaking, networking, negotiating.

· Skills developed can include: project management, enterprise, business awareness, teamwork, networking, leadership, public speaking, leadership, public speaking, networking, and negotiating

Treasurer
· You will manage the scholarship funds gained from the footsteps fund. This involves budgeting for: events, the building of the website and any other funds that might be gained from donors

· Skills required: Data analysis, Microsoft Office programs(particularly Excel), teamwork, self-motivation, problem-solving, ability to build what that vision

· Desired experience: knowledge of business, obtaining funding, negotiating, accounting

· Skills developed can include: Financial projections, enterprise, business awareness, teamwork, networking, obtaining funding, negotiating, and accounting

Public Relations
· You will be in charge of marketing the website, speaking to possible donors, creating a social media strategy, and implementing that.

· Skills required: uses every wide range of social media, experience with publishing software (such as Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft publisher), excellent verbal and written communication, ability throughout to work without supervision

· Desired experience: strategic planning, negotiation, networking

· Skills developed can include: enterprise, business awareness, teamwork, developing a social media strategy, marketing, public speaking, strategic planning, negotiation, and networking

Events Management

· Supporting the Enterprise Officer in liaising with LUU and other societies to build an accessible network of buyers and sellers.

· Skills required: excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to pitch, negotiation, ability to work the supervision, public speaking, knowledge of the union and its societies

· Desired experience: experience in sales, business knowledge, a current or previous committee member of Leeds University union society

· Skills developed can include: enterprise, business awareness, teamwork, networking, leadership, public speaking, pitching, and sales

Web Design Manager
· You will be in charge of creating an effective and attractive website (a budget is available) acting as the point of contact between the business team and the external web designers.

· Skills required: knowledge of website construction, excellent verbal and written communication, ability to be able to motivate a team, working under pressure, leadership, project management

· Desired skills: working within a budget, business acumen

· Skills developed can include: enterprise, business awareness, teamwork, networking, leadership, management, and strategic planning
