Non-Executive Director of Rosslyn Analytics and Oxehealth Limited and Chairman of Arkivum Limited.
Rosslyn is a cloud based big data analytics firm which floated on the London AIM exchange in April 2014 and has offices in the UK. Oxehealth is a global leader in vision-based patient monitoring and management systems, helping clinicians to deliver safer, higher quality and more efficient care. Oxehealth is based in Oxford. Arkivum is a world leader in digital preservation. The company based in Reading.
Until the autumn of 2013 Barney was the CEO of Workplace which had completed an MBO in 2011 with the help of LDC taking the company private after many years on the AIM exchange. Barney joined Workplace in 2007 with the goal to move Workplace forward to next stage of its evolution. Barney has been at the forefront of Workplaces drive to become a world leading SaaS and cloud based business. Workplace provided workforce management solutions too many of the largest retailers in the world. For example Walmart and Rite Aid in the United States, H&M, Metro and Next in Europe.
Barney has over 30 years experience with application software IT companies and has successfully introduced two UK companies to North America. For 13 years Barney was a Main Board Director of Sherwood International plc, a provider of software and services to the global insurance industry – a key achievement was establishing and running the Sherwood North American operation for three years. Sherwood was listed on AIM and later moved to the main London Exchange.
Barney has been a Non-Executive Director of a number of software companies both public and private that have resulted in exits. These include Clearstar Inc in the background screening sector which was listed on AIM and was sold in 2020 , SSP Holdings plc in the Insurance software sector helping list on AIM. The company was sold in 2008. Other Non-Executive roles which resulted in exits include Raft International which was listed on AIM and Guardian Computer Services. Barney was Non-Executive Chairman of Becrypt Ltd the encryption software specialist for 7 years seeing it from its early stage through to being a major player in the encryption market.
Barney began his career with Burroughs Machines after graduating from Leeds University and from there moved to Sherwood International Plc. He has worked for and with Private Equity companies and has his own angel investments in the creative company Voyage Brand and communications Ltd and Parago Ltd an asset management cloud based software company whose main market is education. Parago has become a market leader in its field recently went through the 2500 school user barrier. Parago was sold in 2020 and Barney exited.
When not working Barney is an avid sports watcher, season tickets include; QPR, To keep fit he hikes and skis.
