Leeds University Business School
‘Business Models: Understanding when a good idea is a business opportunity’

Governments in developed economies are trying to support the creation of much needed jobs and are rightly turning to small businesses as the engines for growth. Leeds University Business School supports high growth businesses in several ways. Professor Nigel Lockett will share some of his insights from delivering the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme and talk about Business Models.

When asked. “How do you know your good idea was a real business opportunity?”, many entrepreneurs will refer to a ‘gut feel’. Conversely, banks will insist on a detailed ‘business plan’ before offering to provide finance. Nigel will argue that ‘business models’ can provide an effective way of capturing the essence of a business and the drivers that underpin successful opportunities.
