Interested in social enterprise? Join Enactus to get involved!

Enactus (Entrepreneurial Action Through Us) is one of the many student-led volunteering societies that is run at the University of Leeds; and acts as a platform to empower others to start-up various social enterprises in the form of community projects. The society is a global, non-profit community, which connects students, academics and business leaders with the sole purpose of inspiring others to use entrepreneurial action to transform lives. These entrepreneurial-based projects empower individuals to transform opportunities into real and sustainable progress for both themselves and their communities. At Enactus Leeds, we work as a team to see through sustainable projects and believe in working alongside those in need to both empower our local community and create opportunities.
Arguably one of our most successful projects is Revive, which was set up to tackle the issue of food wastage in Leeds and surrounding areas. We work with the The Real Junk Food Project, who supply us with surplus food which we then sell to students in the University Union each week. In the near future, we are looking to involve a beneficiary group to support this project; in order to impact as many people as possible.

As this is the start of an exciting new academic year, Enactus are eager to recruit new members. The Society’s committee held a drop-in session within the University Union and spoke to many interested students throughout the afternoon. This year, Enactus are particularly keen to create and start-up various new projects, collaborate with other societies and to both strengthen and maintain our relationships with our sponsor companies.

Additionally, the society hosted their first ‘Give It A Go’ session for interested students. Attendees worked in teams to brainstorm several original project ideas and participated in many interesting discussions; ending the evening with pizza and drinks at the Terrace Bar within the University Union.

On Wednesday the 30th and Thursday the 31st of October 2019, you will also be able to find Enactus in the student union on stalls 2&3 from 10:00am-16:00pm for their first Halloween Sale. Come along to purchase Halloween accessories, makeup and fake blood; exactly what you need for a last-minute costume! All proceeds will be invested into the society, in order to help fund our various social enterprise projects.
