Jack Lau

Dr Jack Lau is a holder of multiple invention patents, including the first patent to be awarded to the School of Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He is also the President of Qatar Science & Technology Park. He has a long and distinguished track record in entrepreneurship that bridges technology and academia, and in driving sustainable and wide-ranging ventures in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), multimedia, healthcare and banking software.

In 1999, he founded Perception Digital, a company specializing in digital signal processing solutions for major tech firms. Under his leadership as Chairman and CEO, the company went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Jack has played a key role at HKUST, helping with fundraising, outreach, and the development of the HKUST Guangzhou campus. He has also taught digital transformation courses in Moscow, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

Outside of academia and business, he enjoys writing about technology, practicing yoga as a certified instructor, and golfing.
