Dr Isla Kapasi, Assistant Professor in Enterprise for CEES, along with fellow researcher Professor Laura Galloway, Dean of the University (Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences) and Professor of Business and Enterprise at Heriot-Watt University, has been awarded £7,800 from the BA/Leverhulme Small Grant Fund.
The title of the study is “Why the poor outcomes? An examination of motivations in a context of poverty entrepreneurship”. The research will examine how motivations for business creation may (or may not) contribute to income levels from entrepreneurial activities remaining below the poverty line.
This research will be conducted in Scotland as previous research suggests that poverty entrepreneurship is a particular issue there. Research has commenced in June and is due to be completed in June 2018.
