Enactus Leeds: Empowering Change Through Enterprise and Social Impact

Alec Lai is a 2nd Year economics student at the University of Leeds and has just been elected to run ENACTUS Leeds.

ENACTUS Leeds is a dynamic society that blends together business innovation with real-world social impact. The society is part of a wider international organisation that collaborates with globally renowned partners, including Arla, HSBC, and British Airways, offering exclusive internship opportunities for Enactus members to work with these companies. The focal mission of ENACTUS is to create real-world projects that tackle social and environmental issues. Additionally, Enactus gives students a chance to showcase their entrepreneurial skills through competitions that run during the academic term. After a successful campaign, Alec was elected to spearhead a new wave of student-led initiatives aimed at driving meaningful change across local and global communities.

Leading with Purpose

Alec's decision to run for president stemmed from a desire to strengthen society's leadership and create a more inclusive and collaborative environment. He recognised the potential for Enactus Leeds to grow into a thriving hub of student-led innovation and wanted to ensure that every member felt empowered to contribute. Alec's focus was not only on expanding the committee but also on cultivating a culture where students from all backgrounds can engage with social enterprise and make a tangible impact.
