Why Isla Kapasi’s father is not Richard Branson!

The conceptual paper, ‘A theory of venturing: a critical realist explanation of why my father is not like Richard Branson’, by Galloway, Kapasi and Wimalasena, was published recently in the International Small Business Journal.

The paper examines entrepreneurship, opportunity and value, revealing that wealth and economic growth are not the only kind of value that an individual may seek to realise from their entrepreneurial actions. To clarify, an individual’s background, life experiences and especially agential reflexivity, are important influences on what you may do when you engage in entrepreneurial action. This explains why so many different types of business get created. Ultimately, this explains why Isla Kapasi’s father is not Richard Branson!
